I got the idea to do Sara’s Smile while in church. My home church is a small Baptist church where we clap our hands to keep the beat while the organist plays because we don't have a drummer. In one of the songs the organist played a riff that reminded me of Sara’s Smile, and throughout the rest of the service it stuck in my head.

In making Sara's Smile there are no drums. I used finger snaps in the first part to give it a laid back feeling. Around the 2:45 mark I did what I call “Taking it to Church", which is where I tried to recreate the sound we had in church.
